How it works
Frequently asked questions
Does Skydesk require an internet connection?
Yes. While SkyDesk receives aircraft signals directly from the air using its built-in ADS-B receiver, an internet connection is required for initial setup, software updates, and aircraft information enrichment.
How far away can Skydesk detect aircraft?
Detection range depends on your location and surroundings, but typically ranges between 5-25 km with a clear view of the sky.
Can Skydesk work indoors?
SkyDesk receives aircraft signals directly from the air using ADS-B radio transmissions. For the best reception, it should be placed near a window or in a location with a clear view of the sky.
While it can still detect aircraft indoors, buildings, walls, and other obstacles may reduce the reception range.
Do I need a subscription?
No. SkyDesk works without any subscription fees.
Where is Skydesk manufactured?
Skydesk is manufactured locally, in Melbourne, Australia.
